Celebrating the life of

Stephen D. Mobley

October 23, 1953 - March 18, 2026

Stephen D. Mobley

In loving memory of Stephen D. Mobley of Savannah, Georgia, who departed this life unexpectedly on March 18, 2026, at the age of 72. Steve devoted his heart to his first love, Terri Sims, marrying her in 1973. Their remarkable 53-year union exemplified the beauty of enduring love and unwavering dedication.

A skilled electrician, Steve began his career with Carpenter Electric and culminated it at Crout Electric. Those fortunate enough to work alongside him knew him as a dependable and astute individual, whose kindness and calm demeanor left a lasting impression. Colleagues often remarked, "Steve knew his stuff!" One nephew fondly shared, “Uncle Steve was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”

An ardent supporter of the Bulldogs, Steve found joy in football, fishing, boating, and cherished family gatherings in the backyard—especially those centered around oysters. During football season, it was common to see family and friends congregating under the sun, cooking on the grill, and passionately cheering for the “Dawgs” as the game played on TV. Many St. Patrick’s Days were graced by the presence of the Mobley family in Oglethorpe Square, with Steve often securing their beloved spot the night before.

In the hearts of his beloved wife, Terri, and his cherished children—Daughter Melissa Oxford (Robbie), Son Stephen, and Daughter Julie—Steve’s memory shall forever flourish, laden with the warmth of wonderful recollections. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Lauren Foster (Ryan), David (Kayla), Zach, Luke (Libby), and Zoie, whom he affectionately regarded as his “sidekick.” His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Clifford, Zander, Colton, McCoy, Kinsley, and Talon. A steadfast friend to many, Steve was a gentle mentor who unselfishly shared his wealth of electrical knowledge with younger colleagues, nurturing their growth and fostering success in their careers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Alice Mobley, along with his brothers, Gerald and Butch. He is survived by his loving siblings: Barbara Parsons, Dennis Mobley (Tretz), Lynn Eaton (Chuck), and Terry Harley.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel (7200 Hodgson Memorial Dr, Savannah, GA 31406). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Greenwich Cemetery (330 Greenwich Rd, Savannah, GA 31404).

We love Steve very much. We talked to each other every day even during rain. He was always very helpful and we all enjoyed sitting around his campfire with him or sitting on his dock with him and sharing stories. Steve, you will be dearly missed. We both love you very much and always will. Hugs and love forever, Thomas and Kathleen.

Steve saved my son Jacob's life! Jacob was with my mom, Priscilla on a dock across from Steve's dock on Hayners's creek when he fell in. Steve selflessly dove in, swam over, and helped my mom get him back on the dock fighting a very strong current. I never got to meet him but I heard many wonderful stories about him from my parents. I am forever grateful he was there that day! My love and condolences go out to all his family and friends!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mobley family. I feel truly blessed to have known Steve. For over 35 years, he showed up to work every day and on time. Not for any recognition or praise, but because that is who he was. He was dependable, steady and committed. What made him so special was not only his work ethic, but the way he carried himself. There was never any drama, no need for attention, no unnecessary noise, just a calm, grounded presence that brought a sense of ease to everyone around him. In stressful moments, Steve didn't add to the chaos, he softened it. Then, of course, there was that smile. It wasn't ever overbearing, it was always genuine, warm and often pared with a quiet laugh. He made the workplace not only functional, but also human. Steve was a great mentor to so many at Crout Electric. His coworkers often referred to him as The Legend. I want to thank the Mobley family for sharing their husband, father and grandfather with me, my family and the Crout Electric family. Rest in peace Legend, you will be missed by all!
